QuranMotion Privacy Policy

In short: QuranMotion has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. We do not collect, store or sell any personal information. When you use hand or eye control, the camera picture is processed only on your phone. It is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
Who we are
QuranMotion is a free Quran reading app, available at quranmotion.com and as an app for Android. It was made by Osman Hashi.
Information we collect
None. QuranMotion does not ask for your name, email, phone number or any other personal details, and it has no sign in.
Information kept on your device
To remember your reading, the app saves a few settings in your phone's own storage: the page you last read, your bookmarks, pages you read recently, your chosen translation, text size, page colour and hands-free settings. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it deletes it.
Camera
The camera is only used if you switch on Wave your hand or Use your eyes. When you do:
- The camera picture is analysed on your phone to find the shape of your hand, or where your eyes are looking and when you blink.
- No photos or videos are recorded or saved, and nothing from the camera is sent to us or anyone else.
- Your face is not shown on screen unless you choose "Show camera picture".
- The camera turns off as soon as you stop hands-free mode or leave the reader.
You can refuse or remove camera permission at any time in your phone's settings. The rest of the app works without it.
Motion sensor
If you switch on Tilt the phone, the app reads your phone's tilt to turn pages. This stays on your device and is not stored or sent anywhere.
Internet connections
The Arabic Quran and English translation are built into the app and work offline. The app connects to these services only when needed:
- alquran.cloud, to load translations in other languages when you choose them.
- Google Fonts, for some of the app's lettering.
- jsDelivr and Google storage, to download the hand and eye tracking tools the first time you use them.
- GitHub Pages, which hosts quranmotion.com.
Like any website, these services receive basic technical information such as your IP address so they can send the files. QuranMotion does not send them anything about you or your reading. Their own privacy policies apply to that information.
Children
QuranMotion is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
